For the first time in the 130-year history of the Lahore High Court Bar Association, a woman lawyer has been elected as the Secretary General.
Advocate Sabahat Rizvi won 4,310 votes in the annual elections of Lahore High Court Bar Association on Saturday. His opposite candidate Mian Irfan got 37 hundred and 45 votes and Qadir Bakhsh Chahal got 26 hundred and 27 votes.
Sabahat Rizvi had the support of different factions of lawyers.
Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan of Hamid Khan Group won the seat of President by getting 72 hundred and 93 votes.
Another lawyer woman Rabia Bajwa has been elected as the vice president of the bar. He got 3590 votes.
Senior lawyers have congratulated Sabahat Rizvi on her historic achievement and hoped that she will work for inclusion of women in the High Court Bar.
